We are a diverse group of community-connected builders and leaders that includes health care professionals, tradespeople, businesspeople, scientists, artists and academics. The Association represent the full and part-time instructional staff at NWP’s Grande Prairie and Fairview campuses.
Our aim includes working with Northwestern Polytechnic to ensure the success of our students, alumni, donors and community partners. We do this by protecting and promoting the interests of our members through professional development and fostering a supportive academic community that fosters collaboration, innovation and excellence.
We protect the independence and freedom of teaching, of thought, and research in post-secondary education in northwestern Alberta. We believe in the power of collective bargaining to achieve equitable employment conditions and in supporting a community where every academic staff member feels valued and supported.
The Northwestern Polytechnic Academic Staff Association acknowledges that our campuses are located on Treaty 8 territory, the ancestral and present-day home of many diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people. We are grateful to work, live, and learn on the traditional territory of Duncan's First Nation, Horse Lake First Nation, and Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, who are the original caretakers of this land.
We acknowledge this land's history and are thankful for the opportunity to walk together in friendship, where we will encourage and promote positive change for present and future generations.
